Call To Worship

(Scripture to set a tone for worshipping the Lord):

How joyful is the one
whose transgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered!
2How joyful is a person whom
the Lord does not charge with iniquity
and in whose spirit is no deceit!

3When I kept silent, my bones became brittle
from my groaning all day long.
4For day and night your hand was heavy on me;
my strength was drained
as in the summer’s heat. Selah
5Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not conceal my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah

6Therefore let everyone who is faithful pray to you immediately.
When great floodwaters come,
they will not reach him.
7You are my hiding place;
you protect me from trouble.
You surround me with joyful shouts of deliverance.

-Psalm 32

Worship In Song

My One Comfort

My one comfort both in life and death,
Is that I am not my own
I was bought with blood and confess,
I belong to You alone

(CHORUS)
By the Father’s good decree
Jesus, You’ve delivered me
By Your Spirit set me free
To follow You

There’s no deed that can redeem us
There’s no rite or magic word
Only by the work of Jesus
Can salvation be secured

There’s no sacrifice to offer
There’s no penance to complete
Freely drink of living water
Without money come and feast

O Come To The Altar

Are you hurting and broken within?
Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin?
Jesus is calling
Have you come to the end of yourself?
Do you thirst for a drink from the well?
Jesus is calling

(CHORUS)
O come to the altar
The Father’s arms are open wide
Forgiveness was bought with
The precious blood of Jesus Christ

Leave behind your regrets and mistakes
Come today, there’s no reason to wait
Jesus is calling
Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy
From the ashes, a new life is born
Jesus is calling Oh what a Savior
Isn’t He wonderful?

Sing hallelujah, Christ is risen
Bow down before Him
For He is Lord of all
Sing hallelujah, Christ is risen (repeat)

Mystery

Sweet Jesus Christ my sanity
Sweet Jesus Christ my clarity
Bread of heaven, broken for me
Cup of salvation, held out to drink
Jesus Mystery

(CHORUS)
Christ has died and
Christ is risen,
And Christ will come again
(repeat)

Sweet Jesus Christ my sanity
Sweet Jesus Christ my clarity
Bread of heaven, broken for me
Cup of salvation, held out to drink
Jesus Mystery

(CHORUS)
Christ has died and
Christ is risen,
And Christ will come again
(repeat)

Celebrate his death and rising
Lift your eyes, proclaim his come
Celebrate his death and rising
Lift you eyes, lift your eyes (repeat)

The Reading Of God’s Word

Luke 13:1-9 (Mike Stott)

At that time, some people came and reported to him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2And he responded to them, “Do you think that these Galileans were more sinful than all the other Galileans because they suffered these things? 3No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well. 4Or those eighteen that the tower in Siloam fell on and killed—do you think they were more sinful than all the other people who live in Jerusalem? 5No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as well.”
6And he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree that was planted in his vineyard. He came looking for fruit on it and found none. 7He told the vineyard worker, ‘Listen, for three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree and haven’t found any. Cut it down! Why should it even waste the soil?’
8“But he replied to him, ‘Sir, leave it this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9Perhaps it will produce fruit next year, but if not, you can cut it down.’”

Songs Of Response

Is He Worthy?

Do you feel the world is broken? (We do)
Do you feel the shadows deepen? (We do)
But do you know that all the dark won’t stop the light from getting through? (We do)
Do you wish that you could see it all made new? (We do)

Is all creation groaning? (It is)
Is a new creation coming? (It is)
Is the glory of the Lord to be the light within our midst? (It is)
Is it good that we remind ourselves of this? (It is)

(CHORUS)
Is anyone worthy?
Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He is David’s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave

Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory
Is He worthy of this?
He is

Does the Father truly love us? (He does)
Does the Spirit move among us? (He does)
And does Jesus, our Messiah hold forever those He loves? (He does)
Does our God intend to dwell again with us? (He does)

(CHORUS 2)
Is anyone worthy?
Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He is David’s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave

From every people and tribe
Every nation and tongue
He has made us a kingdom and priests to God
To reign with the Son

Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory
Is He worthy of this?
He is! He is!
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
He is! He is!

Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Is He worthy of this?
He is

O Praise The Name

I cast my mind to Calvary
Where Jesus bled and died for me.
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet.
My Savior on that cursed tree

His body bound and drenched in tears
They laid Him down in Joseph’s tomb.
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone

(CHORUS)
O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

Then on the third at break of dawn,
The Son of heaven rose again.
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ the King

(CHORUS)
O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

He shall return in robes of white,
The blazing Son shall pierce the night.
And I will rise among the saints,
My gaze transfixed on Jesus’ face (repeat)

(CHORUS)
O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

O praise the name of the Lord our God
O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

Worship Through Giving:

Those who call Engage home are encouraged to worship through giving. In order to ensure minimal contact, those giving by cash or check are encouraged to drop in the bucket on the back table (not the garbage bucket) discreetly as they depart. Benediction

(A word of closing blessing from Holy Scripture)

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light, and there is absolutely no darkness in him. If we say, “We have fellowship with him,” and yet we walk in darkness, we are lying and are not practicing the truth. If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say, “We have no sin,” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say, “We have not sinned,” we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
-1 John 1:5-10
