God’s Grand Gospel Story
From the beginning to end, the Scriptures exist to point us to Jesus. In His own words he puts it this way:
You pore over the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life in them, and yet they testify about me. But you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life.
-John 5:39-40
We are a desperate people. We ache for life. But when left to our own devices we will turn to insufficient sources to find it. Jesus breaks through our shallow attempts and declares that all we need is ultimately found in Him. Our strivings to find life in religion and revelation fall short unless He takes hold of us. That’s what we are hoping to see Him do as we begin this new series.
While humanity is shown to be the subject of God’s grace and love, the 66 books of the Bible exist not to exalt humanity, but to point humanity towards Jesus. He is the center and object of the 39 books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament. We enter into this series to take a 10,000 foot view of the amazing acts of God that lead us to the saving work of Jesus Christ throughout the whole Bible. Redemption unfolds within the pages of Scripture and plays out in history (which truly is “His story”) and we want to grow together as we step back and stand in awe of Him. We’ll spend sixteen weeks walking through the major acts of redemption culminating in the finished work of Christ. Join us and prayerfully ask for God to do more than we can think!
