Ascension | Pentecost | Trinity

After he had suffered, he also presented himself alive to them by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.
-Acts 1:3

The forty days leading up to Holy Week are known as Lent in the ancient Christian tradition. Perhaps lesser known in the “liturgical calendar” is that Jesus continued preaching the kingdom of God for another forty days before ascending back to the Father and giving the gift of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost). In some church circles they take a Sunday each to explore these two events before touching on the Triune nature of God on a third Sunday. We thought we’d give that a go this year and build each other up on some biblical teachings that we can always use a good reminder of.
